Salt & Fog — Come Hungry

Cooking is better shared

Salt & Fog started with something simple: I love cooking for people.

I’m not a chef. I’m a product designer by trade, but cooking gives me something design rarely does. Cooking is immediate. You make something with your hands, put it on the table, and get to experience the result with the people around you. Most of what I know came from trying things, making mistakes, borrowing ideas, and cooking the same dish again until I got it where I wanted it.

There’s something deeply rewarding about making food for someone. A good meal gives people a reason to sit down together. Sometimes it’s something you spent all day making. Sometimes it’s dinner pulled together after work. Either way, those meals have a way of becoming memories.

Salt & Fog is where I share the food I actually cook. The recipes come from everywhere: something I ate at a restaurant, a dish I grew up with, an old cookbook, what looked good at the market, or an idea I couldn’t stop thinking about. Some are quick enough for a weeknight. Others take over the kitchen for an afternoon. Living in San Francisco and Northern California finds its way into a lot of it, but mostly I cook what sounds good and figure things out as I go.

I’m still learning. That’s part of the point.

These are the recipes I’ve made, changed, loved, and wanted to share.

You won’t find a culinary degree behind any of this. Just someone who loves to cook, loves to learn, and thinks food is better when there’s someone else at the table.

Come hungry.
